Family to Receive Friends: Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 4-6 P.M. December 2, 2010 at the Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Terry.

Funeral Service: Friday December 3, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry.

Interment: Prairie County Cemetery.

Bert Lee, age 97, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2010 of natural causes at the Prairie Community Hospital in Terry.

Bert was born on December 16, 1912 in The Bronx, New York to Harry Bertram, and Marjorie (Cramond) Lee. He attended Westchester High School where he participated in track, swimming, and baseball. He played second base and his coach said he was the best second baseman he had ever coached. Bert also played for the Town of Terry baseball team.Bert traveled to Terry with a friend, Jack Calder, whose uncle owned the ranch bordering the Brandenthaler's. He met Evelyn Ann Sweet Brandenthaler when she was 12 and he was 16. They kept in touch and when she graduated high school they married on June 8th,1935. They had been married for 72 years when Evelyn passed away.

Bert and Evelyn purchased the Drug Store where Bert was pharmacist in the late 30's. Donald was born in September 1936. During this time Bert started a band and they played for dances at Terry, Fallon, Mildred and Ismay. They sold the Drug Store in the early 40's when they moved to New York City and he worked as a bookkeeper for Grand Central Railroad. They returned to Terry and he was drafted but rejected because of his eye sight and they moved to Minneapolis where he worked in an ammunition factory. They returned to Terry and he worked for the Buffalo Rapids Irrigation Project. Joan was born in May 1944. They purchased the Rialto Theatre and started a sand and gravel business. In the 50's they built the Prairie Drive-In Theatre, which was enjoyed by local and out of town families for many years. He was the first hospital administrator of the new hospital when it was built.

Next to being a big Yankee fan, he was also a dedicated bowler. He bowled for many years in Glendive and Miles City. He was invited and qualified for the Senior Olympic Bowling Games , where he won many medals. Bert was inducted into Montana's Bowling Hall of Fame in the 90's. He was also an avid stamp collector from the age of 10 until his death.Bert took up playing the piano/organ at a young age and will always be remembered for playing at Church on Sunday's and many other church functions. Some of our best times was sitting in the living room and listening to him play.

Bert is survived by his son Don (Dorcas) Lee , Terry, MT; daughter Joan (Richard) Grammer, Carbondale, IL; Grandchildren, Don (Leanne) Lee, Huntley, MT; Dori (Steve) Bradley, Colbert, WA; Deb (Dale) Winter, Maple Valley, WA; Becky Grammer (Kevin Anderson) Canaan, NH; Scot(Stephanie) Grammer, Colorado Springs, CO; 10 great grandchildren , 6 great-great grandchildren, a nephew and 2 nieces.

Bert was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, his parents, brother and sister-in law Alfred and Bobbi Lee, a grandson Derrik Lee and nephew Malcolm Lee.

Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 with family receiving friends from 4-6 P.M. at the Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Services will be held on Friday December 3, 2010 at 11 A.M. at the Community Presbyterian Church. Burial will take place in the family plot at the Prairie County Cemetery.
