In Memory Of

Bertha Helland

Visitation: Friday, October 26, 2007 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.

Funeral Service: Saturday, October 27, 2007 a 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City.

Interment: Custer County Cemetery.

Bertha Amelia ParryHelland, 90, died Monday, October 22, 2007 in Miles City at Holy Rosary Hospital.

Bertha was born on September 18, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York to Christian Parry and Bertha Atrat Parry. She was raised and completed her education in New Jersey. She later moved to California to be near family and to find work. She met her husband at the zoo in San Diego in 1942 and they were married after WWII on January 6, 1947 in Las Vegas. The couple then lived in Los Angeles where she worked as a bookkeeper. In 1949 they moved to Miles City where she worked as a bookkeeper forLeese and Leagland and the Milwaukee Railroad before they purchased and moved to the farm west of Angela where they raised their sons. Although adjusting to farm life after living in metropolitan areas all her life was difficult, Bertha, managed to get used to the crickets chirping at night so she could get some sleep. Bertha dedicated her life to her family, putting others' needs before her own. She enjoyed crocheting and was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving her are her husband of 60 years, Lawrence; three sons-Jack (Debbie), Bruce and Glenn (Kathy) all of Miles City, as well as her grandchildren- Erica, Cynthia, Alex, Andrew, Terran, Ryan, Mackenzie, Mikayla and Alexander Helland. Other survivors include in-laws - Marion Parry, Elton Helland, Mildred (Ike)Boies, Harold (Charlene) Helland, Dorothy Helland, Wayne (Betty)Helland, Peggy (Jerry) Wall and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters - Albertina Wink, Emma Hunt and Edith Dawkins; and five brothers - Albert, John, Frederick, Arthur and Walter Parry.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 26, 2007 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 27, 2007 a 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com.Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the charity of one's choice.
