Betty W. Crain, age 91, passed away August 31, 2012 at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth, MT.
Betty was born December 17, 1920 in Mission Valley, MT to Frank and Mabel (Osborn) White.
She attended schools in Sumatra, MT graduating from High School there. After High School, Betty moved a few times and eventually settled in Washington State. In 1949 she met the love of her life, Lyle Crain. Lyle and Betty were married in 1950 at Lewistown, ID. For their honeymoon they went pheasant hunting.
Betty worked for Boeing as an Executive Secretary for the Vice President of Engineering and Development from 1950 to 1960. During this time she and her husband also ran a dairy farm. In 1960 Betty stayed at home to raise their family, an adopted daughter in 1960 and a son born to them in 1962.
In 1969 Betty went back to work after her husband suffered a heart attack. In 1970 she began her career with the Auburn Police Dept and was proud of the fact that she was the best marksman in the dept.
Betty loved the outdoors, reading, needlepoint, latch hook, and oil painting. She enjoyed politics and was a conservative voter.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Jani (Henry) Zabel of Maple Valley, WA , her son, Tom Crain of Auburn, WA, her grandsons, Scott, Alex and Jared, her great-grandson Nicolaus, her sisters, Dorothy Ashenhurst of Forsyth, MT and Fern Holt of Lovell, WY.
She was preceded in death by her husband and 6 siblings.
Viewing will be Tuesday, September 4, 2012, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth, MT.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2012, 11:00 am at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth, MT.
Burial will follow at the Forsyth Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Betty’s name to the American Cancer Society.
