Funeral Services for Betty Jo Hermann of Weston, Wyoming will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gillette, Wyoming with Bishop Tony Klamm officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the church. Interment will follow the services at Gillettes Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Betty Jo Hermann, age 67, died on Monday, January 19, 2004 at her sons home in Grand Junction, Colorado of natural causes.
She was born on August 5, 1936 the daughter of Jess and Pearl (Evans) Boardman at the McHenry Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming. She and her brother, Earl Boardman, were raised on the Boardman Ranch near Weston, Wyoming. Betty Jo raised 4-H animals and sewed clothing. At age five, Betty started grade school at Lower Horsecreek School. She went to Campbell County High School, where she graduated in 1954 and participated in FHA, foreign language, and annual staff. Upon graduation, she went to college at Casper Community College, where she worked as a legal secretary. Betty married Don Hermann on April 21, 1955 in Rapid City South Dakota.
Betty and Don made their home in Norfolk, Virginia, where Don served four years of active duty. Due to Dons employment, the couple lived in several states including California, Montana, Colorado, Utah, and the intermountain area most of their married life; the couple returned to Weston, Wyoming to retire in 2000.
Betty Jo enjoyed genealogy, which she began at the age of fifteen, crafts, stuffed animals, and cooking; bread was her specialty, and making Christmas stockings, which she made for each child and grandchild. Her life revolved completely around her children, even in her retirement years. Her love and devotion will be irreplaceable as a mother. Betty was a homemaker, a mother of six children, and a wife to Don Herman for forty-eight years. She will be greatly missed by all family and friends.
Mrs. Hermann is survived by her husband Don of Weston, Wyoming; five sons: Don (Debbie) Hermann Jr. of Grand Junction, Colorado, Dan (Vickie) Hermann of Battleground, Washington, Darryl (Sue) Hermann of Denver, Colorado, Doug (Allison) Hermann of Portland, Oregon and Jess (Becky) Hermann of Vernal, Utah; one daughter, Valerie (Greg) Dougherty of Gillette, Wyoming; one brother, Earl Boardman of Weston, Wyoming; thirty grandchildren, two great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
