Betty attended grade school and graduated from high school in Harriet, South Dakota in 1951. She was married to James Knittel and from that marriage their daughter, June was born December 5, 1953. Betty and James were divorced later. Betty and June took back the Krause name.Betty and June lived together for 52 years. They both enjoyed handywork, crocheting, knitting, punch embroidery and plastic canvas art.A misfortune happened to their apartment in Westminster, Colorado that brought Betty to Forsyth, Montana in 2004. Betty lived in the Rosebud Apartments until her health failed which forced her into the Rosebud Healthcare Nursing Home. She resided there until her death. Her daughter resided in Westminster, Colorado until her death December 18, 2007.Betty loved her dogs immensely. Midnite, a black lab and part poodle was her pride and joy. Alexis, her little dog, was her constant companion and inspiration to live. June was also an avid dog lover.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and her daughter.

She is survived by a brother, Kenneth Krause whom resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She also has numerous nephews and nieces. Her special nephew, Dennis Krause who has been so helpful the last three years is the reason she came to Forsyth.
