Funeral services: Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
Interment: will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery
Betty Lucille Ryum, age 82, of Billings, formerly of Miles City passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the St. Vincent Hospital in Billings surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born on June 15, 1926 in Helena, Montana, the daughter of Marion and Tony Wakefield. Betty attended grade school at the Horton School near Forsyth, later moving to the Kinsey and Miles City area where she attended school through high school, graduating from Custer County District High School. Betty held several jobs in Miles City working at the McDonalds clothing store, Bowman Chiropractic Clinic and the Welfare Department. She later worked at the Super 8 Motel in Red Lodge, Montana. Betty and Cecil Ryum were married on January 30, 1945 in Miles City. They made their home in Miles city until the time of their retirement after which they spent their winters in Yuma, Arizona and their summers in Red Lodge, Montana. Betty loved spending time with all the friends she made while in Yuma as well as the time she spent in Red Lodge, watching and taking care of the hummingbirds and deer. She adored all of her grandchildren and especially like watching them play in their sporting events.
Betty is survived by a son, Gary and his wife Billie of Glendale, AZ; three daughters: Patricia Ryum of Las Vegas, NV, Roberta Ryum of Billings, MT; and Marilyn Frize and her husband Ron of Miles City, MT; two sisters-in-law: Anne Westrope and her husband Jack of Miles City and Loretta Ryum of Dalton, GA; two sisters, Marilee Peterson of Orlando, FL, and Sharon Duncan of Bentonville, AR; her nine grandchildren: Stacy Mergener, Garrett Ryum, Ashley and Allison Ryum of Arizona; Hunter Ryum of Las Vegas; Dustin and Chase Frize of Grand Forks, ND and Bo and Kayla Frize of Denver, CO; and six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Cecil, her parents, her sisters: Della and Dorothy and her brother Allen.
Betty will be missed by all that knew her. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
