Beverly Bev Derenburger, passed away at age 77 on Saturday, September 5, 2009.
Bev was born on June 12, 1932 to Emil and Mabel Gall at the Darcy Hospital in Miles City. During her childhood, Bev attended schools in Miles City and spent summers on her familys farm in Garfield County. She graduated from Custer County High School in 1951. After high school, Bev worked in the bookkeeping departments of the First National Bank and the First Security Bank. During this time, she met her future husband, John Derenburger. Bev married John on November 22, 1953, at the Trinity Lutheran Church. When John was drafted, Bev moved briefly to California. They returned to Miles City afterward, where John joined the police department and Bev made a home in which to raise their two daughters. John and Bev would have celebrated their 56th Anniversary this November.
Bev loved to cook and bake for her family and guests. In later years, she still liked to try new recipes as much as she enjoyed sharing the familiar one's with family and friends. At Christmases, Bev prepared many plates of cookies and candies that she gave to her friends and neighbors and to her daughters school teachers. Birthdays in her home were made special by her beautiful cakes and the attention she gave to preparing whatever meal the birthday person wanted. Bev always made her home warm and welcoming for both family and friends, but holidays were especially nice because of her thoughtful gifts and decorations. Bev enjoyed playing cards with her friends she liked cribbage and pitch and thirteen, and she was particularly good at pinochle. She liked to read, and in earlier years could be found embroidering a gift for somebody or creating needlework art to be framed and enjoyed.
Beginning in 1978, Bev and her husband began traveling south for the winters. She made friends easily and became a welcomed member of her snowbird community in Yuma, Arizona.
Bev is survived by her husband, John Derenburger of Miles City, MT; daughter, Lonna and son-in-law Randy Roberts of Thompson Falls, MT; daughter, Julie and son-in-law Roger Renville of Helena, MT; grandsons: David Oberembt and Michael Renville; a sister, Doris Wells of Miles City, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
