Gillette-Funeral services for Billy Gene Brown, age 56, of Gillette will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette, Wyoming with Kenna Rose officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Funeral services in Eureka, Kansas will be held at 11:00AM Friday, August 8, 2003 at the Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2003 at Koup Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral services at the Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka.
Mr. Brown died on Sunday, August 3, 2003 from injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Billy Brown was born on March 8, 1947 the son of Willis and Mary Martha (Stuber) Brown in Eureka, Kansas, where he was raised and educated, graduating from Eureka High School in 1965. Continuing his education, he attended Emporia State College in Emporia, Kansas. On May 11, 1972, he married Peggy Carroll in Eureka, Kansas, where they lived until moving to Gillette, Wyoming in 1977. Billy began working for Sun Cementing, which later sold and became known as First Energy; where he was employed until the time of his death. He also owned and operated Year Round Brown Tanning and Beauty Salon with his wife, Peggy. In his spare time, Billy enjoyed boating, motorcycle riding and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and friends.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife Peggy and three daughters: Carrie (Brown) Felton and fianc Anthony, Delinda Conrad and husband Mike, and Kelly Calvert and husband Mark all of Gillette, Wyoming; his parents Willis and Mary Martha Brown of Eureka, KS; brother Bobby Dean Brown and family of Eureka, KS; sister Betty Kieffer and family of Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren: Randi, Jayme, Kelby, Dacie, Justin, Keanan and Andre; and many nieces and nephews.
The Brown Family would like to thank everyone who helped at the scene of the accident; the Campbell County Fire Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Campbell County Sheriffs Department, all the people who stopped, the kids who helped and the staff at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital. Your assistance was greatly appreciated.
