Billy Dee Perkins Sr., age 66, of Gillette, Wyoming went home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 2, 2003 of natural causes.
Bill was born the son of Willie D. and Goldie (West) Perkins on November 12, 1936 in Clayton, New Mexico. He was raised and educated on a farm in Sedan, New Mexico, until he graduated from high school.
In 1958, he came to Wyoming where he raised his family and worked as a heavy equipment mechanic in the area mines.
Bill enjoyed rock hunting and making jewelry out of the beautiful rocks he found. He loved gardening and playing his guitar, singing, and song leading at his church, Central Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Erika Perkins, of Gillette, Wyoming, five children: Bill D. Perkins Jr., of Gillette, Bob Perkins, of Casper, Wyoming, Jason Perkins, of Houston, Texas, Justin Perkins, of Billings, Montana, Juliana Perkins, of Sheridan, Wyoming; five brothers and sisters: Mary Wisdom, of Greenville, South Carolina, Danny Perkins, of Taylors, South Carolina, James Perkins, of Sedan, New Mexico, Glenna Kendall, of Longmont, Colorado, Joe Pekins of Dalhart, Texas; twelve grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Robert and David Perkins; one daughter, at birth.
Funeral services for Bill Perkins will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, October 6, 2003 at the Central Baptist Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Russell Bode officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette, Wyoming. Visitation will be Sunday, October 5, 2003 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette.
