Graveside Services: Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 2, 2004 at 3:30 pm at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City with full Military Rites.
Billy Merlak, age 81, of Jordan, MT, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at the Deaconess Hospital in Billings, MT.
Billy was born on May 11, 1922 to William and Louise (Bartlett) Merlak in Brusett, Montana. He attended country school in Brusett and Jordan High School. In 1944 he and his twin brother, Harry, enlisted in the United States Navy where they served for 2 years before returning to the family ranch where they owned and operated it until 1989, when they sold it but continued to lease the ranch. Bill served as the Garfield County Commissioner and was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the V.F.W.
Billy is survived by his brother Harry and Marean Merlak of Jordan, MT. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew; Mark.
Visitation will begin on Friday, December 26, 2003 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Jordan, MT. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2003 at 10:30 am at the V.F.W. in Jordan. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2003 at 2:30 at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City with full Military Rites. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Jordan is in charge of the arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the V.F.W. in Jordan or to the charity of one's choice.
