In Memory Of

Bonnie Janssen, age 83, of Miles City.

August 13, 1939 – October 3, 2022

Surrounded by family, Bonnie F. Janssen, age 83, of Miles City, Mt, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022 at the Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City.

Bonnie was born Aug 13, 1939, the daughter of Lyle and Elsie (Deeks) Shipman in Ismay, Montana. She spent her youth in Ismay and graduated from Miles City Custer County High School in 1957. In 1962 she married Glen Janssen in Miles City. To this union, they were blessed with two sons, Darrell in 1963 and Brett in 1971. In 1973, the family was living in Glendive, Montana when Glen suddenly passed away. Bonnie and her two boys then moved back Miles City to be closer to family. Bonnie’s work career included First National Bank, B & C Oil and LP Anderson, from which she retired and later worked for the St. Vincent de Paul store.

She was a good and faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City. She sang in the choir and participated in all the Ladies Guild activities. Bonnie’s Christian faith was always a big part of her life. Bonnie was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was so very proud of her family. She enjoyed watching her boys in their school and summer activities, reading, holiday gatherings, taking family trips and going to second-hand stores and antique shops.

She is survived by her son Darrell and children, Katheryn and Joe, and her son Brett and his children, Sophia and Olivia; her sister Vilma Bartel and brother Berl Shipman; her sisters-in-law, Alice Janssen and Barbara Janssen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband Glen; her parents Lyle and Elsie; her sister Thelma Quincer; her sisters-in-law, Nellie Shipman and Mary (Janssen) Hardesty; brothers-in-law, Frank Bartel, Leonard Quincer, John Hardesty, Marlyn Janssen and Jim Janssen.

Everyone knew Bonnie as a very kind and giving soul. She will be so greatly missed by her family and many friends.

There will be a private family only graveside service for Bonnie at 11am on October 29, 2022.

Brett and Darrel, So sorry to hear about your Mom. Bonnie was a dear friend and a nice person. We were neighbors for 20 years and had stayed friends throughout the years. Bonnie and I always talked about how much fun our kids had growing up in our great neighborhood. She will be missed, but Bonnie is safe and well with the Lord.

Bonnie was so fun to visit with at St Vinnie’s. We’ve lost so many great gals from there in the last couple years. I hope they’re all sitting around the break table in heaven chatting up a storm. Rest in peace Bonnie…💔

Bonnie was a great friend for many years. We worked together at First National Bank and also at First Security Bank in the old days. We had a lot of fun times together back then and since I retired and came back to Miles City in 2008. We had several lunch dates to catch up with each other. Condolences to her boys and family!

Although a big age difference, Bonnie was one of my first friends when I moved to Miles City years ago–I lived on the same apartment floor as her for 4 years. She always looked out after me, listened so well, and shared her faith and wisdom of life experiences with me. She was such a lovely lady. May you rest in peace Bonnie. My sincere sympathy to her sons and families.
