In Memory Of

Brad Grist, age 48, of Terry

April 26, 1973 – December 27, 2021

On December 27, 2021 Brad Eugene Grist passed away at his home in Terry, Montana.  He was 48 years old.

Brad was born on April 26, 1973 in Glendive, Montana to Gene and Norma Grist.  He went to Kindergarten in Brockway, Montana.  He attended school in Terry, Montana through his sophomore year.  His junior years was spent in Circle, Montana.  He graduated from the Box Elder Job Corps, in Nemo, South Dakota as a Brick Layer in the Spring of 1993.  After graduation he got a job with Icicle Seafoods, out of Seattle, Washington.  In 1994, he joined the United States Army, as a Military Policeman, stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana.  In September 1994, he was deployed to Haiti during Operation Uphold Democracy and returned in 1995. After returning from Haiti, he separated from the Army and went to work in the Oil Fields near Thermopolis, Wyoming.  In 1996 he went to work with his Uncle Al, traveling the United States, doing sheet rock work.  Brad also did brick and tile work.  In 2002 he returned to boat life and went to work on the Stellar Sea, for Icicle Seafoods, Inc., out of Seward, AK.  He started out processing fish and worked his way up to head maintenance engineer.  He loved the boat life.  In 2013, he gave up his sea legs and moved back to Terry and moved in with his sister and family.  It was at this time that he joined Bob’s Body Shop and learned to become an Auto Body Technician.  Brad really enjoyed his job and became very good at it.  He worked there for 8 years. While working for Bob, he added side jobs doing sheet rock and painting work around Eastern Montana.  He also did roofing work for family and close friends.

In his free time, Brad enjoyed fishing at Fort Peck, throwing darts, hunting, outdoor cooking, and working at Demolition Derbies and Bump and Runs.  He bought his first house in 2017 and was looking forward to fixing it up.  His greatest joy was spoiling and doting on his only niece and her friends.

Brad was preceded in death by his grandparents Bud and Margie Grist; grandmother Leona Hellman; cousin Cory Grist; uncle Bill Grist; Uncle and Aunt Al and Sue Hellman.  He is survived by his parents Gene and Norma Grist; sister Dawn (Keith) Olson; niece Jordyn Olson; aunt Cathy Grist; uncles and aunts: Bob and Bev Hellman and Dale and Jaynee Hellman; numerous cousins and great aunts and uncles and close friends Larry Scheid and Brian Wallace.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry.  Military Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry.
