Brent Vann Ryan Sr., 38 years old of Lame Deer, MT, made his spiritual journey to join Mahe’o on November 22, 2022. He was named after his great great grandfathers, Frank Pine (Sesto to ke).
Brent Vann Ryan Sr., was born on February 26, 1984 in Crow Agency, MT to Vann Ryan Sr., and Anna Mae Ryan. He attended school at Lame Deer Elementary and Lame Deer High School. He met Danielle Martell and together they were blessed with a daughter named Nakoda Ryan. They had separated but remained friends for their daughter. Later, he met Lacey Doney and was blessed with three children: Brioni Ryan, Arioni Ryan and Brent Vann Ryan Jr. Brent loved to play handgame, go hunting with family and friends. He loved spending time out in the hills. Brent was very crafted like his late brother, Vann Ryan Jr., and late uncle, Raymond Pine Sr. he enjoyed keeping himself busy. He made handgame sticks, benches, and tables. Family was everything to him. He loved spending time with his kids, and late brother Vann Ryan Jr. Brent was a humble man and had a big heart. He helped and prayed for a lot of people. He had so many friends and bros. he would go out of his way to help with whatever you asked of him. he had an artistic gift, he loved drawing. He loved his ceremonial ways, he traveled with his late father, Vann Ryan Sr. to Arizona to participate in peyote meetings and traveled to Wyoming for meetings also. He was 15 years old when he first danced in a Sundance. Brent believed in the Cheyenne way of life. He danced in many Sundace’s and built his own sweat lodge. He conducted many sweats to help people, family and friends. He had peyote ceremonies and drumming’s in the family home as well.
Brent had ext4ended family he called his brothers, Jeremy Hiwalker, John Gaustad, Woodrow Blackwolf, Dave Janvier, Chuck Pyle, Dalano Whiteface, and Hubert Blackwolf.
Survivors include his children: Brioni Ryan, Arioni Ryan, Brent Ryan Jr., and Nakoda Ryan; mother, Anna Mae Ryan; sisters: Gayleen Ryan, Vanessa (Johnson) James, Nakia (Virgil) Weaselbear, Christy Bearchum; brothers: Paul (Kassie) Ryan, Quentin (Michaelena) Ryan, Robert (Angel) Bearchum; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; adopted brothers: Jeremy Hiwalker, John Gaustad, Woodrow Blackwolf, Hubert Blackwolf, Chuck Pyle, Deleno Whiteface, and Dave Janvier.
He is preceded in death by his father, Vann Ryan Sr.; brothers: Ivan Ryan, and Vann Ryan Jr.; sisters, Claudine Ryan, Julia Ryan; aunts, Imelda Barney, Holda Roundstone; uncles, Robert Bearchum Sr., Perry Pine, Raymond Pine Sr.; cousins, Raymond Pine Jr., Chey Roundstone; maternal grandparents, Daniel Pine, and Florence (Redneck) Pine; paternal grandparents; Frank Bearchum, and Alice (Medicine Flying) Bearchum.
Other extended relatives: Bearchum, Wounded Eye, Marshall, Pine, Taylor, Clubfoote, Nightwalker, Roundstone, Elkshoulder, Strangeowl, Sandcrane, Little Coyote, Redneck, Brady, Rockroads, and Blackwolf.
Brent comes from a large family, we apologize if we forgot anyone.
