Brian Daniel Hunter was born in Talehquah, Oklahoma on February 21, 1978 to Linda Robinson Hunter and Carl Hunter. He attended school in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and then finished his GED. Brian achieved his Associate Degree in Medical Coding and Billing at MSU-B and Computer Programming and Repair at Miles Community College. Brian worked for various employers until his employment in Miles City as a cook at Trails Inn, and then as an IT Specialist at Stockman Bank.
Brian began developing signs of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in 2023, which forced his retirement from work and beginning on disability. He spent the rest of his time first at home, under the loving care of his wife, Randi, and then at Holy Rosary Hospital, Billings Clinic and Advanced Care Hospital in Billings. Brian passed peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025 with his family at his side.
Brian’s life included the many cats that he and Randi adopted: Oreo, Shinobi, Tolliver, Cloe, Conor, Blazer and Lucky, as well as other beloved furbabies who are happy to see him in heaven now. He was skilled in, and loved, computer science and technology in any form. His computer and hand-drawn art was outstanding. Brian was a great cook, and coming from Oklahoma, he was especially fond of chicken-fried steak and potatoes, as well as playing Dungeons and Dragons, and Pathfinder. Brian’s survivors include his brother, Kevin Hunter and his sister, Heather John, as well as his wife, Randi (Bergerson) Hunter.
Brian was known to friends and family as “BtDMH” or “Brian the Dungeon Master Hunter.” Brian held a big presence in the life of all of us, and we are mourning his early death.

Dear Randi, My sympathy to you and Brian’s family. ALS is an unforgiving disease and he was fortunate to have your care at home while he was still able to be there. I’m glad that you were able to be with him at the end of his time on earth and know you will be with him again, someday. God bless you as you grieve this loss.
