Sion C. Brewer, age 73, of Ashland, MT passed away at his home on Otter Creek on November 25, 2007.

Sion was born on March 19, 1934 in Belle Fourche, SD to Ernest Addison & Alice Permelia (Pierce) Brewer. He grew up in and attended grade school at Tie Creek, where his aunt was the school teacher. Sion went to Ekalaka High School graduating in 1953. After graduation, he worked on a dude ranch in Idaho for two years before entering the United States Army. It was after boot camp that he and Joan Pulse were married on April 20, 1957 in Ekalaka. Sion and his new bride moved to California, where he was stationed. After his honorable discharge they moved back to the Ekalaka Baker area and finally settled in the Ashland area working for various ranchers. In 1989, Sion got the mail contract and faithfully delivered the mail for 18 years. Joan passed away in June of 1989. In 1991, he and Barb Schonenbach got together. Barb was a good companion and caretaker until his death.

Sion loved to rope and enjoyed competing. He had a deep respect for the land, his horses and wild life. Sion loved to hunt and never went anywhere without his hat. Sion loved his children and family. Thru life and the mail route, Sion made many friends. He got to ride through the hills enjoying (although not the roads on occasions) the scenery, wildlife and nature.

Sion is survived by his children; Ernest (Denise) Brewer of Sheridan, WY, Carla (Greg) Humphreys of Fay, OK, and Cathy (Roger) Schonenbach of Ashland, nine grandchildren; Danyell & Shelby Brewer, Blaine, Seth, Jacob & Tysie Humphreys, Lyndi (Dusty) Taff, JoDean (Jamie White) & Tanner Schonenbach and three great-grandchildren; Kasten Taff, Makenzie & Avery White. After getting with Barb he added three more children; Scott (Helen) Schonenbach of Ashland, Debbie McClaren of Rapid City, SD and Diana (Harry) Goodwin of Otter Creek and six grandchildren; Heather & Nikki Schonenbach, Kyle McClaren, Amy, Melissa & Jessica Goodwin to his family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 10:00 am at Hillside Alliance in Ashland. Interment will follow at 3:00 pm at Beaver Lodge Cemetery in Ekalaka.
