Memorial Service: will be held at a later date on the family ranch
Calvin M. (Buzz) Jackson, age 71, of Rosebud passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2004 in Miles City surrounded by family, after a long battle with cancer.
Cal was born at home 10 miles up Sweeney Creek March 25, 1932 to Floyd and Winifred (Hoff) Jackson. He attended Ash Creek Grade School, Rosebud School and he graduated from Rosebud High School in 1949. He worked for various ranches until he started construction work in the early 50s. He worked as an operator, Foreman, and was working at Woodby Island when he met Veneta Osborne. They were married April 30, 1959, and have been best friends ever since. They had eight children, Reed, Jeb, Flint, Mark, Bobbie, Sim,
Sandy and an infant daughter. Cal and Veneta and their family lived all over the western states working construction. Cal was an accomplished equipment operator and member of the Operating Engineers for over 40 years until he retired in 1992. He returned home to Sweeney Creek, where he ran cattle for his kids. He loved ranching, cattle, his grandkids, and liked to let them drive him around.
Cal is survived by his wife Veneta, his children, Reed (Diana) of Sheridan, Wyoming, Jeb (Cathy) of Rosebud, MT, Flint (Kathy) of Basin, Montana, Bobbie (Mike) Hagan of Whitehall, Montana, and Sim of Miles City, Montana, and his sister Pat (Dave) Turner of Rosebud, Montana. His grandchildren, Camie, Monica, Ryan Jackson and Kelly Lenart of Sheridan WY, Michelle Niedge of Rosebud, Jill, Cole and Kendra Jackson of Basin, Layne and Raelynn Hagan of Whitehall, MT. His nephews Frank Turner of Phoenix, Clyde Turner of Billings, MT, Bill Turner of Miles City and niece Karen Anderson of Forsyth.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, a son and two daughters.
Family will receive friends, Monday, March 22, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & sons Funeral Home in Miles City, with a Memorial service at a later date on the family ranch.
