I will always remember picking wild plums with Carl. The old “Bensel Hatchery” sign still hangs in my barn. What a gentleman who always mourned his bride. My prayers to the kids Ive never met.
Ed and Becky Gergen says
I remember when I was very young I went down to Bensel Hatchery and looked at the baby chicks. It was great. Carl was a nice person.
T. Kelly says
May the family find comfort in loving memories, and in knowing that God is “close to those that are broken at heart; and he saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18) Our loving Creator, Jehovah God, has promised to soon “swallow up death forever…and wipe the tears from all faces.” (Isaiah 25:8) With deepest sympathy.
McDowell Family says
Don McDowell & Carl are now having coffee again and remembering their boyhood days growing up in Miles City. We only wish we could still be sitting with them at the 600 counter listening to their stories.

I never knew him, but Bensel Hatchery brightened every spring when we were kids out on the farm. Boxes of baby chicks arrived in the mail, and we knew spring had begun for sure! Sometimes there were five or six dyed different colors. I think that was if it was near Easter. What joy this man brought to lots of country kids – and their parents!

Nikki and Family,
Nikki, I enjoyed our conversation the other day. I used to run into Carl when he was still Miles City. We would usually have a cup of coffee and a good visit. He was a kind man and always had a smile. I will keep in touch.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
