Interment: will follow in the Graceland Cemetery in New Salem, ND
Carl Henry Klatt, age 82, of Miles City, MT passed away on September 29, 2006 in Billings, MT with his family at his side.
Carl was born on July 24, 1924 in Morten County near New Salem, ND to Gerald and Helen (Walde) Klatt. He attended country grade schools near New Salem where he graduated from High School. Carl and Lois Anderson were married in New Salem on June 24, 1945. The family moved to Judson, North Dakota, in 1952, where he managed the Judson Grain Elevator until 1964. Carl moved to New Salem and went to work for John Deere. In 1972, they moved to Plentywood, Montana continuing on with John Deere. In 1975, they moved to Miles City where he worked for Lohman Motors until his retirement in 1986. On November 23, 1997 he married Charlotte Collum in Billings, MT.
Carl loved to play cards, camp and travel. He was an dedicated member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He held numerous positions throughout the church including the Sunday School Superintendent in New Salem, ND.
Carl is survived by his wife Charlotte Klatt of Billings, MT, two sons, Rick (Peg) Klatt of New Salem, ND and Bruce (Sally) of Billings, MT; two daughters, Betty (Wayne) Toepke and Debby (Brian) Lester of Miles City, MT. He is also survived by nine grandchildren (soon to be 10); eight great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six nephews and five nieces. Carl is survived by his sister Marion and her husband Otto Reuther of New Salem, ND.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Lois, his parents, one daughter Carol, in1952; two granddaughters, Sheila M Toepke Hay in 1996 and Jennifer Ann Lester; one grandson Jeffrey Michael Lester, a sister, LaVerne Porsborg, a brother, Lloyd Klatt and a nephew, Pat Klatt.
Visitation will be held onMonday, October 2, 2006 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.Funeral Services will be held onTuesday, October 3, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Miles City. Afuneral service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 1:00 pm at the Zion Lutheran Church in New Salem, ND with visitation beginning at 11:00 am at the church.
