Carl W. Nelsen, Jr. of Wolf Point was born September 23, 1928 at McCabe, MT to Carl and Inger Marie Nelsen. He was raised at McCabe and Froid. He graduated from Poplar High School in 1949. Carl later moved to Poplar where he worked at the Co-op Services Grocery Store. He also worked for Lockheed Aviation as a riveter for two to three years. He worked for 30 years for Buttreys Food Store in Wolf Point before retiring in 1988.
Carl loved to ride bicycle. He once rode bike from Froid to Culbertson, but had to push the bike up the big hill. He also loved trucks. Riding the Tilt a Whirl at the carnival with his nieces was also a fun thing. Carl liked music and had a huge record collection including Roger Miller, Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass, and many others. He loved ice cream and had a soft spot in his heart for children.In later years
Carl enjoyed putting together puzzles, playing rummicube with two special friends Bobby Holloway and Edna Pilgrim, and spending time with Sugar, the one-eyed cat at Faith Home. He served as the head of the resident council at Faith Home.
His parents and one brother, Hans, preceded Carl in death.
He is survived by a brother Clarence Nelsen of Poplar and a sister, Helen V. Johnson of Wolf Point, numerous nieces and nephews and 5 special nieces, Penny Johnson of Devils Lake, ND, Ruth Wentz of Minnewaukan, ND, Milly Eggebrecht of Wolf Point, June Jensen of Moses Lake, WA, and Elly Jone's of Ellendale, ND.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21 from 1 to 8 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel with friends and family gathering at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22 at 11 a.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point with Pastor John Skillman officiating. Interment will be at the Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery at Froid. Memorials are suggested to Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel.
