CARMELITA (Carmie) Marchel Onebear-Williams went home to meet her Heavenly Father on October 31, 2021. Carmie “Mokee’e”, Little Woman, Indian name given to her by Caroline Martin, carrying Caroline’s Cheyenne name. Carmie was born to Leola Whiteman and Wayne “Mickey” One Bear on October 19, 1964 in Crow Agency, MT. Carmie roots and majority of her life was in the home town of Lame Deer, MT. She helped in raising her younger siblings. Carmie carried the mothering nature with her sisters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She served the Lord her entire life and God instilled his love in her to be that nurturing, loving and caring woman of God. She served in ministry with her husband Scott Williams and family, at Morning Star Baptist Church, Muddy Baptist Church, Lame Deer Pentecostal Church, Christ the Rock, and El’Shaddai in Wyola, MT. Carmie loved the Lord whole heartly, her husband, daughter, son and her grandchildren. She defiantly was a Proverbs 31 woman. She was raised in the ways of the Lord by her mother, Leola and Grandma Regina. Carmie married Scott Williams on August 3, 1996, a marriage God ordained and was their covenant. They shared a love together, that no man could put asunder. They celebrated their 25th Anniversary in St. Louise, MO, on August 3, 2021.
Carmie received her education in her early years at Lame Deer Public School and continued her remaining years and graduating from St. Labre Indian School in 1982 as Valedictorian her senior year. In 1982 Carmie excelled her basketball skills with the team taking the Championship Divisional Title with her receiving the highest record of rebounds of 206 Rebounds and 325 points that year, advancing to State, coached by Mr. McCarthy. She attended Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. Her work career started with Northern Cheyenne Tribe in the Finanace Department, She worked as one the first bank tellers at the First Interstate Bank in Lame Deer, worked in the Northern Cheyenne Recovery Center assisting many members on the road to recovery, worked as a mentor at the Boys and Girls Club, she coached several years girls basketball, then the job she loved at the Lame Deer High School for the past 8 years until her going home. Carmie’s heart was for the children, the hurting and the needy.
Carmie was without a doubt one of the sweetest soul to ever grace the planet. Her love and her heart were obviously to everyone she knew and encountered. Carmie loved watching her son “Isaiah” play basketball and was his best cheerleader. She & Scott travel far and near for his games. Carmie loved her only daughter and grandchildren, that she worked hard to see them succeed and be whom God called them to be. She also loved her little fury animal “Maisley” whom she lost couple weeks before and was so lonesome for her little campion. She loved cruising with her sister, Joni, Ava, Elcha and Gigi. She loved so deeply that she carried the hurts of others, when they were hurting on a level deeper than anyone else. She carried a heart for the people that made it hard for her to see them struggle. What a tremendous woman whom will be missed by all who knew her, but heaven is a sweeter place where her love can flourish and where the ones she loved that gone before her, and is now restored with health, and Jesus will wipe all the tears from your eyes. Carmie was such a beautiful child and was loved by many and many took part in caring for her and would like to recognize them, Grandpa John and Grandma Regina, Uncle William Vassau & Ann, Frank Vassau, Caroline Martin and Tom & Lorraine Waters, Rolefson.
