Carolyn Elizabeth (Bette) Hockett, age 83, of Miles City, Montana, passed away of cancer on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Holy Rosary Extended Care.
Bette was born October 12, 1924 near Ismay, Montana to Genoa (Cochran) Hall and Glenn Hall. She attended country schools near Ismay and school in Baker. She was admitted to The Galen Tuberculosis Sanitarium at the age of 15. After being discharged from the Sanitarium at the age of 20 she went to Beauty School. She married Donald Frank Gulden and they made their home for a few years in Yellowstone Valley near Miles City.
They raised their four children in Miles City. She later married Waite Hockett and they continued to live in Miles City. She loved Bingo, scrap booking, playing pinochle and watching TV re-runs; often reciting lines from "Little House on the Prairie" and "The Walton's". She wasa avid collector of stylish hats, elephants, and "Betty Boop".
Her children, grand-children, and great grand-children were the high-lights of her life. Bette and her grand-daughter, Timberly (James)Sprayberry were especially devoted to each other. This colorful woman will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Bette is survived by her son Jerry Douglas (LaVonne) Gulden; and daughters: Tami James, Dona Zimmer (John), all of Miles City and BellaGarstang (Gregory) of Denver Colorado. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, five sisters and one grandson, Tim-Tim James.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 21, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
