Carolyn Jablonski Mathison was born March 15, 1937. The eighth of thirteen children born to Mary and Frank Jablonski of Wibaux, Montana. Growing up on a large farm family, she learned all chores, including milking cows. She attended grade school in a rural elementary school outside of Wibaux, and graduated from Wibaux County High School in 1955. She worked in many hospitals following her 1958 graduation from Presentation School of Nursing in Miles City, MT.

Carolyn loved all church activities especially singing old hymns and praise scriptures. She also enjoyed being a member of the Christian Women’s Club, swimming, exercise, card games and playing tennis. She also especially enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in all of their sporting events. She continued to support the community with attending local high school and college sporting events even when no family members were playing.
She was preceded in death by her son Mark in 1988, her husband Duane, and her sisters Helen, Mary, Natalie, Betsy and brothers Carl, Bob, Victor, Louie and Frank Jr.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Craig (Stacy) Mathison of Idaho Falls, ID, Andrea Mathison of Billings and Rachel (Mitch) Gundlach of Miles City. Aunt Tut was such a large personality always singing and dancing around singing God’s praise. My sister Mary and I had a great laugh with one of the many memories when Tut was singing “Afternoon Delight” – when we talked about what the song was about Tut didn’t know and we all – including Tut laughed so hard! May she rest in peace. Prayers for Craig, Andrea, Rachelle and all family during this time of such loss. We know she’s singing in heaven! She will be missed fondly by all.

What a “sparkle” she was to so many!! I loved playing the piano for her and John M. when they did devotions and songs for the “kids” in the extended care … LOL!!! She truly had the light of the Lord in her life, and she lived exactly that way, with never a dull moment. It’s sad for us right now as we all will really miss her, but her happiness being with the Lord and her other loved ones is what we are striving for. Hugs and prayers to the family. Love you, Carolyn and see you later!!

Rachel, Mitch, Gavin, Grace, Gabe and family,
Your mom was such a blessing to me, praying and encouraging me through a couple of health scares. She had such a contagious joy for the Lord, and a love for people; what an incredible example for all of us! I could always count on her to text me to ask for the sports schedules, and especially the one for tennis. I loved running into her at basketball games and out and about. She was one of those people that seemed like she would live forever… so active and energetic.
I will miss her! Praying for your family, as you will miss her most of all! I can’t help but think of the line of that old hymn: “When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!”
Lori Raisler says
To all of Carolyn’s family,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I mean, we know where she is, but won’t get to see her here anymore. She and I met while I was doing census prep work in 2009. She saw my name on my badge and asked if I knew a particular Raisler from Beach. Of course I did. 🙂 She had gone out with him a time or two more than 50 years ago at that time.
We played pinochle together and she was great to play with as she forced me to up my game. She usually danced and sang a little and was one of the most vibrant people in the room! What a great life she lived!
God bless you all,
Lori

There was never a song leader more vivacious and energetic with sincere love than Tootsarella. I watched her for years at the Holy Rosary Residential Living Bible Study, ministering to folks who didn’t always participate, but she nevertheless persisted in her joyous enthusiasm. She had a natural, easy and outgoing personality which made folks comfortable. Now, she is singing and preaching to The Choir. She indeed lived out her faith. Egads, will she be missed!
