Carter Jeffrey Powell passed away peacefully in the arms of his mother on February 27, 2015. Carter was born February 6, 2015 to proud parents Parker and Ashley Powell. Carter was born at 28 weeks and weighed 2 pounds 8.5 ounces and was 14.3 inches long. Carter spent 21 wonderful days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Saint Vincent Healthcare where he was loved by many. The nursing staff thought he was so handsome and they enjoyed caring for him.
During his three short weeks on earth Carter touched so many lives and was loved deeply by family and friends. He was so full of life from the minute he was born. Carter had such a personality for being born so early. He was perfect in every way. He had the most beautiful full head of dark hair, big hands and feet, and precious eyes. Carter was the true definition of a fighter, who never quit working until his last breath. When Carter would wake up from his naps he would stretch out his long legs and extend his hands above his head and give a big yawn. He was so full of energy, during his diaper changes he would give the nurses and his parents a “run for their money”, as he was constantly moving around.
Carter loved being held by his mommy and daddy, listening to stories being read to him, and sucking on his purple binky. He also loved staring at his parents when they spoke to him and being told “I love you” countless amount of times. Carter was truly a miracle and a blessing to his parents and family. His parents were so proud of him and still are, they would tell him that every day.
Carter is survived by his parents Parker and Ashley Powell of Glendive, MT; Grandparents: Jeff and Corinna Keller of Custer, MT; and Rick and Joann Powell of Billings, MT; Aunts and Uncles: Jeff, Sarah, Owen, and Liam Powell of Yankton, SD; Ross, Jill, and Sam Powell of Billings, MT; Taylor Keller (Mark) of Belfry, MT; Mckensie Keller of Miles City, MT; Great Grandparents: Marjorie Carlin of Billings, MT; Dell Powell of Absarokee, MT; Lee and Marion Perrin of Custer, MT; Bill Keller of Custer, MT; and numerous relatives. He is preceded in death by his great grandparents: Jeanette Keller, Helmer Hauck, Eunice Powell, Owen Powell and Duane Carlin.
The family would like to thank the wondeful staff of Labor and Delivery, Mother/Newborn, and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Billings. Interment will follow in the Custer Cemetery in Custer, MT. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
