Cassie Reid

Rosary:Monday, September 29, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City.

Rite of Committal: Calvary Cemetery.

Cassie Catherine Reid, age 96, died quietly at her home in Miles City on September 27, 2008. She was with her family.

Cassie was born in Casselton, North Dakota, on June 9, 1912, to Fred and Catherine (McLaughlin) Wilson. After her father died, her mother married Jack Reid in 1920. Cassie attended grade school in Jordan and the Ursuline Convent in Miles City. She graduated from CusterCounty High School and the Montana Business Institute. In 1943, Cassie married Hector William McLeod (name later changed to Reid) in St. Patrick Church in San Francisco, CA. Father Powlesu officiated.

Cassie's first job was Head Usher at the Montana Theater. She later worked as a saleslady and in the business office at Montgomery Wards. Throughout her marriage, she worked as a cook for the crew at the N-N ranch on the Little Dry east of Cohagen. Later in life, she spent many years as Manager of Sweetbriar' s Dress Shop. Cassie was active in the Sacred Heart Church and School throughout her life. She belonged to Altar Society (St. Joseph's Circle) and served as a Eucharistic Minister, both in church and to the homebound. Cassie was very active in the Caledonian Society throughout the years, and served as Secretary-Treasurer. She was a Girl Scout Leader and a consistent donor to the Red Cross Blood Bank. Cassie has been a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary since 1950 and a volunteer at the V A hospital. She also volunteered at the Food Bank, RSVP, and St. Vincent's.

Cassie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and John O'Meara, brother, Ray Reid, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Hector, her sisters and brothers and their spouses: Frances (Sam) Clark, Louise (Gus) Rehbein, Annie (Curt) Casey, Jack Reid, and sister-in-law, Margaret Reid.

Visitation will begin on Monday, September 29, 2008 with a Rosary to be held at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal will follow in the family lot of the Calvary Cemetery.
