In Memory Of

Catherine Burnett

September 15, 1923 – November 10, 2011

Catherine M. “Tootie” Burnett, age 88, of Miles City passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City.

Catherine was born in Miles City, Montana on September 15, 1923, the daughter of Duncan and Ava McDonald. She attended schools in Miles City, graduating from Custer County District High School. Following her schooling, she worked for the Civil Service, working in Seattle and southern California. She met and married James L. Burnett on June 3, 1944 at the Brushnell Army Hospital in Brigham City, Utah. They lived in Missouri for a short time until moving to Miles City in the 1940´s, making their home there until the time of her death.

She lived every moment of her life dedicated to her family. Catherine is survived by a son, Jim Burnett of Miles City, MT; two daughters: Ava (Kenny) Boschee of Miles City, MT; and Jodie Rhodes of Spring, TX and a brother, Babe (Carol) McDonald of Cohagen, MT; three grandchildren: Kevin Boschee of Miles City, MT; Catherine Ann Rhodes and Colin James Rhodes both of Spring, TX and one great granddaughter, Mackenzie Rose Boschee of Miles City, MT. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James; and two brothers: Duff McDonald and Potts McDonald.

Although Tootie loved Montana and spent most of her life here, she never cared for long the winters. She loved spring when the grass turns green and the lilacs are in full bloom, so her family will have a celebration of her life in May of 2012. She will be laid to rest with her husband and love of her life of 65 years in the Eastern Montana State Veteran´s Cemetery in Miles City. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City is in charge of the arrangements. Her service date and times will be announced closer to the time. If anyone has special memories, stories or events, of Tootie the family asks that you share them with the family at www.stevensonandsons.com or sent to the family at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home, 1717 Main Street, Miles City, MT.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the family and will be forwarded to the Disabled Veterans of Montana, serving our country since September 11, 2001 or the charity of one´s choice.

Many of us knew her for many years. We are sad to see her go, but we are pleased to have her son Jim here with us at Homestead. He brings great joy to everyone here eery day. Even though it seemed to be before her time, she has gone to a place where she can rest eternally with the love of her life, her huband, and they can lay with each other and be bonded once again.
those of us here that did not personally know Catherine, now know her through her son Jim, he always has something wonderful to share about her and we will always sit with open ears to listen to the stories he has to tell.
We are all praying for your family in this time of hurt.

Tootie was always so kind and treated me like family, she was such a nice lady. God bless her and may she rest in peace. I’ll see you in the spring Jodie, when the lilacs are blooming and summer’s in the air.
