Internment: Following at the Valley View Cemetery in Broadus Funeral services for Catherine Rumph will be 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 4, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Broadus, MT. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery, Broadus. Visitation hours will be 4:00 PM 8:00 PM on Wednesday, at Stevenson Funeral Home of Broadus.
Catherine H. Russell was born on December 3, 1927 in Miles City, MT to Glen and Maude (Rowsey) Russell. She grew up in Powder River County and attended Butte Valley School. Catherine then attended high school in Gillette and graduated from Campbell County High School. She then attended Asbury College in Kentucky.
On December 16, 1950, Catherine married Robert Rumph in Gillette. They made their home on the Russell Place where they lived, worked, and raised their three girls.
Catherine enjoyed life on the ranch. She loved to work with the cattle and tend to her gardening. Catherine always had plenty of canned goods from her garden, and was especially proud of the flowers she raised. She also enjoyed hunting and bowling. Catherine was an active member of the Biddle Wesleyan Church where she served as secretary and played music. Catherine remained at her home near Biddle until her final days.
Catherine H. Rumph, 75, of Biddle, MT died on Saturday, August 30, 2003 at her daughters home in Gillette, WY after a five-year courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease).
She is survived by her husband, Robert Rumph of Biddle, MT; three daughters: Glenda Hibbs and husband Lonnie of Gillette, WY, Debra Hayes and husband James of Denver, CO, and Robin Jone's and husband Rick of Gillette, WY; one granddaughter, Autumn Rumph; four step granddaughters: Courtney Jone's, Stephany Jone's, Amanda Hibbs, and Heidi Hibbs; one step grandson, Lonnie Hibbs, JR; and one step great granddaughter.
Mrs. Rumph is preceded in death by her parents.
