In Memory Of

Catherine Sanford

Military Graveside Service: Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Custer County Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home for a brief service before interment at the Custer County Cemetery.

Catherine Mae Monty Sanford, age 87, passed away February 26, 2011 at her home in Miles City, MT.

Catherine was born June 3, 1923 in Hinsdale, MT, the daughter of Francis and Mary (Sheahe) Drabbs. Monty attended school in Hinsdale and graduated from Hinsdale High School. Following her graduation Monty joined the U.S. Marine corps during World War II. She served her country for four years. Following her discharge she met and married Franklin Red Sanford. The two of them moved to Texas for several years, then to California, and finally to Miles City, Mt where they resided ever since. Monty worked for Dellas Dress Shop, and Shores as a seamstress. After finishing work at these places Monty continued her seamstress work from her home. Monty loved to fish, her family, and her cat Brat. Monty was well known for her great sense of humor.

Monty is survived by son Franklin Skip and wife Janice Sanford of Spokane Washington, two daughters; Teri and husband Jerry Muggli of Miles City, Martha Sanford of Billings; a sister in-law Frieda Drabbs of Hinsdale, MT,; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

Monty was preceded in death by her husband Franklin, daughter Catherine Katy Darling, Brothers Russ Foran, and Tommy Drabbs, and Sister Edna.

Friends and Family will meet at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home, for a brief service before interment at the Custer Country Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post #1579. Condolences may be sent to www.stevensonandson.com.
