Family to Receive Friends: Tuesday, November 25, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
Funeral service: Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles City.
Interment: will be held at a later date in the Hathaway Cemetery.
Catherine Woods, age 26, of Miles City passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Catherine Haviland Woods was born October 11, 1982 at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, the daughter of William and Sonja Woods and sister of Joel. In Catherines 26 years she accomplished many things and touched many lives. Catherine was an honor student and valedictorian of Custer County District High School of the class of 2001. During her high school years, she cherished being the manager of the Custer Cowboy Football team. The friendships made from her elementary years on remained close throughout her life. Catherine attended Western Washington University and graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in biology. She was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Catherine always felt academics were a very important part of life. At the time of her death she was employed at the Miles City Billings Clinic.Catherines great love and passion was Scottish Highland Dance. She was a member of the Miles City Caledonian Society and was a member of the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing. She won several competitions and for the last ten years shared her passion and skills with Miles City Youth as their Highland Dance instructor and choreographer.
Catherine loved being at the family ranch at Hathaway Montana. As a typical eastern Montana cowgirl, she appreciated the value of horses, cows, border collies, and the land itself. She loved the time she shared with her family and friends there. Catherine enjoyed quilting, visiting with friends and traveling. A very fond memory for the entire family was the vacation they spent in Scotland where they attended the World Championship Bagpipe competition.Catherine was very close to her family and extended family. Although her life was very short, she lived fully and passionately.
Catherine is survived by her parents and brother of Miles City, her grandmother Mary Jean Woods, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins in Montana, Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan.
