Memorial services for Cecil E. Reynolds age 81, of Gillette, Wyoming, will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June11, 2005 at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Gillette, Wyoming, with Father Jim McConnell officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post # 42 and Masonic rights read by the Upton Masonic Lodge # 38. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home of Gillette.
Mr. Reynolds died Thursday, June 2, 2005 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes.
Cecil E. Reynolds was born on May 13, 1924 in Sundance, Wyoming the son of Harry E. and Charlotte (Stanton) Reynolds. Cecil grew up on a ranch 12 miles south east of Sundance. After graduating from Sundance High School in 1943 Cecil enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving in World War II. Shortly after his honorable discharge Cecil married Barbara Penrose on June 3, 1946. Barbara passed away in January 1974. Cecil then married Ruth Ames Weaver on October 5, 1974. During Cecils adult life in Upton, he worked for the local bank, owned and operated the B& R Grocery Store and after he sold that, he worked as a foreman for Terra Resources until he retired in 1986. In his retirement Cecil played as much golf as he could and when it wasnt possible to play golf he would play bridge. He participated in many bridge games at the Senior Center and quite a few bridge marathons as well. Cecil enjoyed traveling with Ruth to see family and the warmer states in the winter. He was a great gardener not only working in his yard, but also offering his time and talent at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Cecil was a 50 + year member of the Upton Masonic Lodge #38 and the Eastern Star.
Cecil is survived by his wife Ruth Reynolds, of Gillette, Wyoming; two sons: Donald and wife Cora Lee Reynolds of Lander, Wyoming; Stuart Reynolds of Upton, Wyoming; two step daughters: Karol Miner and husband Jerry Fawcett of La Barge, Wyoming and Barbara Barondeau of Escalante, Utah; two brothers: Stan Reynolds of Florida and Gene Reynolds of Cheyenne, Wyoming; four sisters: Alice Ackerman of Upton, Wyoming; Doris Lake of Sundance, Wyoming, Clare Edna Kipp of Sundance, Wyoming and Carol Petera of Dubois, Wyoming; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara (Penrose) Reynolds and one step son Larry Weaver.
