Charles Bud Madler, age 77, of Miles city passed away on February 16, 2008 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
Bud was born to Charles and Minnie (Jesfield) Madler on April 12, 1930 in Baker, MT. The family moved to Ollie, MT when Bud was 5 years old. He attended school in Ollie through his junior year of high school. The high school closed and Bud went his senior year in Sturgis, SD, graduating in 1948.
Bud married Dorothy Corean on February 4, 1951 in Spearfish, SD. Bud worked for Homestake in the lumber and timber dept. In 1953, the family moved to Montana and Bud farmed for several years. Bud went to work for MDU at the Little Beaver plant in 1956 until 1982. He was transferred to the Hathaway plant west of Miles City and was plant supervisor there until his retirement in April 1992.Bud enjoyed working with wood and welding. He liked remodeling old houses, gardening and working in the yard. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in sports and listening to his granddaughter sing.
He was Past Master of Sandstone Lodge #84 at Baker, MT and served on the school board for many years.
Bud is survived by his wife Dorothy Madler of Miles City, two sons Mike (Donna) Madler of Glendive, MT and Tom Madler of Arvada, Colorado, two daughters Alice (Eddie) Anderson of Fallon, MT and Arlene (Don) Groshans of Bridger, MT, seven grandchildren; Melissa, Nikki, Dana, Kristin, D.J., Charlie and Brandon and sixteen great-grandchildren; Robbie, Ryan, Brittney, Marriah, Jase, Isaac, Rachel, Kayli, Skyler, Brooklyn, Caleb, Haven, Shaylee, Kyler, Kiera and Laine. He is also survived by two brothers; Francis Madler of Spearfish, SD and Bernard Madler of Rapid City, SD, one half brother Doug Arnoldt of Rapid City, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter Monica DeMunbrun.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 with the family to receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm followed by a prayer service at 7:00pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City.
