In Memory Of

Charles Hellickson, age 72, of Miles City

November 3, 1946 – October 6, 2019

On October 6, 2019, Charles passed away after battling cancer. Charles was being comforted by his family.

Charles was born on November 3, 1946 in Scobey, MT. He was the fourth son of Louella Houg and Leonard Hellickson. He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers Albert and Kenny Hellickson, some very close friends, and the two great loves of his life, Barb and Claudia.

He will be deeply missed by his 2 daughters, Frankie Hellickson of Glendale, AZ, Samantha Hellickson (Kevin Samuelson) of Broadus, MT, 3 grandchildren, Kelynn Chavez-Hellickson of Glendale, AZ, Landyn Merwin and Willow Samuelson of Broadus, MT, 1 brother LeRoy Hellickson of Scobey, MT. Charles was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to everyone.

Charles grew up in Scobey, MT farming and ranching with his family. His love for cattle gave him a lifetime of happiness in the cattle business. In his younger years he enjoyed playing football, bull dogging, cowboying, traveling, and working. Charles made friends everywhere he went.

Charles loved going on trips with good friends, going to the All American Rodeo, sporting events, business trips, and all rodeos.  He enjoyed working on his home in Miles City and craftsmanship, and he took pride in raising his red angus cattle. Charles had a lot of wild adventures in his days, he would say “it’s hard being Charlie” He always had something sarcastic to say and could make anyone laugh.

Charles was proud of his daughters and loved spending time with them being horseback, working cattle, brandings, vacationing, discussing valuable life lessons and experiences, and storytelling. He loved dancing and listening to music. Charles loved being a grandfather to Kelynn, Landyn and Willow; watching them play sports, riding horses, watching football on tv, and laughing with them. Charles also has extended family members that he was close to and loved as well.

Charlie was a great friend, we had many fun times together.Charlie liked the cowboy lifestyle. He was never happier if he could be buying calves or talking about cows. He always dressed western and nobody looked better in a hat than he did. Oh we’ll miss him but we’ll never forget the fun we had! Rest in peace cowboy.

So sorry to hear of the passing of my cousin Charlie. Some of my earliest memories include Charlie, he was my one cousin who was close to my age. It always brightened my day to see him show up at any family get togethers. God bless you, Charlie. My thoughts and prayers are with the rest of the family.

I am sorry to hear about Charlie. I think high school would have been dull without you, Cecil and Rolly. Our class has lost a lot of “kids” I was lucky enough to grow up with, but the good memories will always be there.
