Charles Wesley Hughes, age 85, formerly from Miles City, Mt passed away Friday, Sept. 9th, 2022.
Charles was born April 13, 1937, to Faye (Aye) and Max Hughes in Miles City. He spent all of his childhood in Montana (Miles City and Three Forks to name a few), which shaped him for who he truly was. He graduated from Custer County High School and went on to attend Montana State University graduating with his B.S in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. He then went on to get his master’s in chemical engineering at both Washington State University and the University of Utah. He had a few jobs but found a home at Hercules Incorporated as the Senior Development Engineer creating rocket boosters for NASA. After a young retirement, he went on to get his real estate license and invest in real estate throughout the Salt Lake City Valley. He always had a love for investing and building. He had even built his home in Salt Lake City, where he resided for 44 years.
Charles was a caring and loving husband and father devoting majority of his time to his family. He enjoyed road trips and traveling, especially trips to Seattle to see his kids and grandkids, and his most recent a trip to see his sister Maxine in Maine. There was nothing he loved more than family.
He was a busy man, but his favorite past time was golfing. He enjoyed it so much he retreated from his home in Castle Rock to his home in Mesquite, NV. He was able to enjoy all the golfing and bowling a place has to offer. If he wasn’t golfing, then you could find him fixing anything and everything that broke or building things around the house. You might also catch him walking one of the 9 rescue dogs he and Patti took on the last 10 years. To keep it short, he was all around a remarkable man.
He will be deeply missed by his family, and those who knew him. Charles was a wonderful man with a heart of gold.
Survived by: Maxine Gustin (sister), Patricia Hughes (Wife), Kim McDivitt (daughter), Perry Hughes (son), Suella Leedholm (daughter) Grandchildren: Melanie, Shane, Joe, Connor, and Little Charli (Charlotte) Great Grandchildren: Willa, and Oona.
Visitation will begin on Friday, September 23, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. A Graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Custer County Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Parlor, 1806 Main Street. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
