Charles Chuck South age 72 of Miles City. He passed away Sat Aug 22, 2009 at Holy Rosary Health Care in Miles City.
Chuck was born in Auburn, Nebraska on November 25, 1936, the son of Floyd and Grace (Majors) South. When he was 6 years old he moved with his family to Miles City where he attended school. In 1953, he worked for Miles City Motors where he washed cars. He worked his way up to Service Manager. In 1954, he married Marilyn George in Miles City. In 1969, he opened a auto repair business which he ran until 1973. He later went into business with his brothers as painting contractors until 2008 when he retired at the age of 71.
Chuck was a craftsman and loved working with wood and building and restoring old cars.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Marilyn South of Miles City, MT; three sons: Daryll (Julie) South of Billings, MT; Marty (Lena) South of Billings, MT; and Chuck South of Billings, MT; five sisters: Marla Cooper of Missouri; Wanda (Art) Peaslee of Miles City, MT; Judy Kings of Miles City, MT; Marilyn (Tom) McBride of Billings, MT; and Glenda (Jim) Hunter of Miles City, MT; three brothers: Bob (Darlene) South of Miles City, MT; Lloyd (Joanne) South of Miles City, MT; and Lonnie (Barbara) South of Miles City, MT; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. From 1:00 to 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery.
