Interment: Pioneer Cemetery in Jordan
Charles Pollard Rich, age 82 of Sand Springs, Montana, passed away on July 1, 2006 at the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown.
Charles Pollard Rich was born May 21, 1924 in Melstone, Montana to Lawrence E. Rich and Janet Pollard Rich. He attended rural schools in Garfield County, often taught by his mother. He worked on the airport in Lewistown before going to the shipyards in Portland,Oregon in 1942-43. He attended cadet school in San Mateo, CA then transferred to the Merchant Marines. He sailed on cargo ships until 1950 traveling around the world seven times. He married Pohney Hill on Dec. 13, 1947. They had four children, Kenny (Linda) Rich, Charlene Rich Schuster, Alvin (Denise) Rich and Bonnie Rich Jessen.
He worked at the Jet Fuel Refinery at Mosby for 20 years while also working part time at the family ranch at Sand Springs. He returned to the ranch fulltime in 1973. He retired in 1996 when the ranch sold to Kenny. He served on the school board and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Montana Stockgrowers for 54 years.
He is survived by his wife, four children, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Clancy (Ann) Rich and his sister Beverly Lorie. He was recently preceded in death by his granddaughter-in-law and great granddaughter; Nicole and Alauna Rich.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the V.F.W. Hall in Jordan. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Pioneer Cemetery in Jordan.
