In Memory Of

Chris Sousley, age 79, of Colstrip

October 27, 1945 – June 24, 2025

Chris Leroy Sousley

October 27, 1945 – June 24, 2025

Chris Leroy Sousley, 79, passed away on June 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 27, 1945, in Paw Paw, Michigan, Chris was the beloved son of Chester Eugene Sousley and Mable Alvina Trusedell Sousley.

Chris grew up in a large, close-knit family with six siblings: his brother William and five sisters—Georgia Ann Heuser, Gladys Thompson, Gari Van Galder, Gertrude Sousley, and Gayle Crandall. The bonds he formed with his siblings remained strong throughout his life.

On April 7, 1979, Chris married the love of his life, Sandra Elaine Tissino Sousley. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared 46 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion.

Chris was a dedicated father to four children: Todd, Chad, Shawn, and Michelle Sousley. His legacy continues through his five cherished grandchildren: Tyler, Shawna, KC, Rachael, and Aden.

In his professional career, Chris worked as a Millwright Mechanic, where he applied his skills in maintaining and building industrial machines. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1974, earning numerous honors including a Purple Heart, the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantryman Badge, Republic of Vietnam Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and recognition as an Expert Marksman.

Chris was an avid outdoorsman with a deep passion for hunting, fishing, hiking, and backpacking. He was skilled at crafting beautiful items from the antlers he collected during his hunting expeditions, creating cribbage boards, candle holders, and knives. When he wasn’t in the great outdoors, Chris could often be found reading western novels or competing in the local pool table league.

Known for his witty sarcasm and his charming signature phrase “yippee-ki-yay,” Chris shared all of his passions with family and friends, creating countless memories and passing on his love for the outdoors to the next generation. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local Veterans fund in Chris’s honor.
