On the early morning of July 20, 2017, Christopher passed away at the Awe Kualawaache Care Center, in Crow Agency, Montana, which he had been a resident since September 14, 2014. Chris had just celebrated his 80th birthday, on June 24, 2017. A few family members were able to sit and visit with him in the late evening hours of July 19. His son, Joseph, stayed with his through the night, until he passed away at 5:15 AM.
Christopher was born in Ashland, Montana. His father was Andrew LaRance, originally from the Canada area and his mother, Margaret Fox Yellow Eyes, who resided in Ashland, Montana. Chris was mainly raised by his grandmother, Mary Redbird Seminole.
Christopher was a very great deer hunter with an awesome one shot to the neck. He brought many deer home. He also greatly enjoyed fishing, ice skating in which he taught his children, and took them sledding to the highest of places.
Christopher was also a member of a very elite team of the Northern Cheyenne Fire Fighting Crew; an outstanding team that traveled to many out of state fires. He also enjoyed playing softball games as his team traveled to various places to play a game. As he grew older, he coached for the lady teams and did a little umpiring as well. He enjoyed western movies and listening to country music on the big old albums. His favorite artists were Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Tennessee Ernie Ford.
He enjoyed watching football, basketball and boxing on TV. While in the service he did some boxing and sometime later he coached boxing to the young boys in Lame Deer. He taught his son, Chris Jr., boxing as well.
He was an avid fan of the Busby Eagles, going to all their games and followed the team to their State Championship in Helena, Montana, in 1971.

To Christophers family and friends;
Chris is already missed here at Crow Care Center. We miss his smile, his laughter , his love of watching baseball, basketball, football and westerns on T.V. I’d walk in his room and he’d share everything that was going on! Chris had eyes that sparkled and danced. I will miss him and remember him forever . God bless each and everyone of you and know how much he loved you all. Laura Tiller
