Charles Chuck Guidice, age 81, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota surrounded by his loved one's.
Chuck was born on November 27, 1923 in Miles City, Montana, the son of Charles & Katherine Karch Guidice. He attended local school and at the age of 17, he went to work for the Milwaukee Railroad.During World War II he served in the European Theater. He was wounded and spent time in the field hospital, then quite some time in several hospitals in the states. During his recuperation he worked for a short time for the Southern Pacific Railroad out of Tracy, California. In 1946, he received the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged at Fort Lewis, Washington.He then came back to Miles City and resumed working for the Milwaukee Railroad. In 1950 he was promoted to Engineer and worked in that capacity until 1981, when the Milwaukee abandoned all lines west of Minneapolis.
He loved all kinds of sports. I believe football was his favorite. He also loved hunting and fishing. The fishing took us to Canada for several vacations and also to Alaska where he caught a 45# halibut, but most of all he liked fly fishing. We spent many vacations around Ennis were he loved to fly fish the West Fork of the Madision and the Madison River.
His survivors include his wife of 56 years, Maxine and their sons Dennis and wife Charla of Rapid City, South Dakota, Donald and wife Karen of Chugwater, Wyoming, and Doug of Tampa, Florida. His grandchildren: Tracie, Robert, Shannon, Crystal, and Kurt. His great grandchildren: Kiera, Tyler, and Tauni. His sisters: Gladys Polcyen, Ethel Bateman, and Betty Scanlan.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kelly, his parents, two sisters, Lillian Huffman and Alice Calkins and two brothers Clarence and Walter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be held at a later date in the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery.
Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Rapid City Regional Hospital fifth floor, the Presbyterian Church in Miles City, or to the charity of one's choice.
