Clara Volz, age 93, of Miles City, Montana, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2004 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
Clara was born on September 18, 1910, in Linton, North Dakota, the daughter of Anton and Clara (Aberle) Masseth. She attended country grade schools until the fifth grade when she had to quit to help on the family farm. Clara married Rudolph Volz on October 22, 1931 in Linton, North Dakota. She moved to Montana in May of 1951 where she worked as a chamber maid in various hotels. She then worked at the Holy Rosary Hospital, working in the laundry for eleven years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband Rudolph on November 18, 1986, two infant sons, Anthony and Lawrence, a grandson Jeffery Volz, a brother Nicholas, and five sisters; Katherine, Regina, Christine, Elizabeth and Eva.
She is survived by her children; Nicholas Volz and his wife Betty of Baker, MT, Joseph Volz and his wife Judith of Miles City, MT, Helen Murray of Billings, MT, Jacob Volz and his wife Frieda of Miles City, Eva McCabe of Miles City, MT and Mathew Volz and his wife Darlene of Billings, MT, eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin on Monday, August 23, 2004 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Vigil services will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Calvary Cemetery.
