Clarence H. Tiny Umland, age 87, of Jordan passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Garfield County Nursing Home in Jordan, MT.
Clarence was born on March 16, 1923, in Crocker, SD to Henry & Anna (Gross) Umland. At the age of three he moved to Jordan, MT, with his family. His father had homesteaded there with Tinysgrandparents. He went to elementaryschool at Castle Butte andValley View then graduated from Garfield County High School in 1939. He served in the Army for two years, spent one and a half years in Panama, and was a charter member of the VFWPost 7886.He married Carol Huston on July 18, 1958. He was a confirmed member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Jordan, where he served as trustee for three terms. Clarence served 50 yearson the board of directors of theFarmers Union Oil Co. of Jordan, the High School board for 10 years, was a member of the ASC district board, and served 2o years as the Town Supervisor for the Soil Conservation Board. He once was a rough neck on an oil rig, although his real enjoyment was farming and raising Hereford Cattle.
He is survived by three nieces: Jo Ann Stanton of Jordan, MT; Mary Pat Watson of Jordan, MT; Paula Rae Keeler of Lacey, WA; one stepson: Pat Talbot of Jordan, MT; one nephew Jim White of Miles City, MT; and one brother in-law Ray Watson of Fallon, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol and sister Nadine Watson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 25, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Jordan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the VFW Hall in Jordan. Interment will follow in the Pioneer Cemetery in Jordan, MT.
