Claude David Bud Bourn, age 84, of Miles City passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the Friendship Villa in Miles City.
Bud was born in Ismay, Montana on July 4, 1920, the son of George and Stella (Delane) Bourn. He attended school for a year in Ismay then moved to Miles City in 1927 where he attended schools and graduated from Custer County High School. Following his schooling, he worked with his father in the oilfields. Bud married Beth Fairbanks and following their marriage, he worked with W.P.A. Irrigation district then moved to Washington where he worked as a welder in the ship yards. They moved back to Miles City in the late 1940s where he then worked for Babcock and Lee Trucking and other local trucking companies. Then in the early 1950s, Bud started his own Trucking Company. While in business, he hauled livestock, grain, and wire for interstate highways. While trucking, he received several safety awards. He retired in 1990.
Bud enjoyed dancing, playing fiddle, camping, and greatly enjoyed gardening. He enjoyed antique tractors and loved attending antique machinery shows, and was a member of several threshing bees. He had a great love for his dogs.
Bud is survived by his wife, Betty Bourn of Miles City, MT; four sons: David Bourn and his wife Velma of Miles City, MT; Bill Jone's and his wife Pansy of Miles City, MT; Edward Jone's of Miles City, MT; and Richard Thompson and his wife Julianna of North Branch, MN; four daughters: Linda Coppendge and her husband James of Auburn, WA; Frances Bartholomew and her husband Donald of Miles City, MT; Mary Scarpholt and her husband Lars of Glendive, MT; and Patricia Moyer and her husband David of Hibbing, MN; two brothers: Harold and Norman; a sister-in-law, Marion Bourn of Puyallup, WA; twenty seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Alice, a sister, Evelene; three brothers: Forrest, Russell, and Kenneth; two sisters-in-law; two grandchildren: Miles and Coletta; and a great grandchild, Justin.
