Cleora Anastasia "Pat" Gamrath, age 96, of Miles City passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012 surrounded by her family while under hospice care at TLC in Miles City where she had resided for the past seven years.
Pat was born on September 26, 1915 in Crary, North Dakota to Charles and Rachel (Nixon) Durbin. She grew up in Montana, graduating from Opheim High School in 1933. She worked for a time in both Fort Peck and Glasgow, Montana. She married Dwight Gamrath in Montana. They lived in Opheim and Richey, Montana, Valley City, ND, and Miles City, MT. They were running a grain elevator in Richey when Dwight was stricken with rheumatic fever. Pat kept the elevator operating for the next year. She worked for several years at Montgomery Ward in Valley City. She also worked at Della´s in Miles City for many years. She worked hard her entire life.
Pat was an excellent cook. The cookie jar was always full. She was a quilter and made quilts as wedding gifts for her grandchildren and crib quilts for her great-grandchildren. Gardening was a source of much pleasure for her. She loved all flowers, but growing spectacular tuberous begonias was her specialty. She was an "on-call" mom and grandma, with a sympathetic ear and a warm hug for one and all.
Pat is survived by her children: Monica Cresap of Minot, ND; Patty (Robert) Fearing of Valley City, ND; Gerald (Mary Ann) Gamrath of Baker, MT; Wayne (Cathy) Gamrath of Miles City, MT; Karen (Jim) Ferris of Miles City, MT; and son-in-law Norm Pedersen of Fargo, ND; eighteen grandchildren, forty-one great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Betty Jo, three brothers, one sister, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
