In Memory Of

Clifford Limpy Jr, age 57, of Lame Deer

Our brother, nephew, cousin Clifford Limpy, Jr. passed away on March 12, 2021 in Los Angeles, California. Jr. living life on his terms. He lived in many places over the span of his life. From Denver to Albuquerque, NM, San Francisco, CA where he attended culinary arts school, and most recently New York City and Los Angeles where he passed.

Jr. read constantly and if anyone had a question, he could rattle off information that he had read about in the thousands of books, news sources and magazines he loved. He spoke several languages including Cheyenne taught by his Grandma Annie Shoulderblade and was self taught in Crow, Italian, German and Mexican dialect. We all loved his taste in music, starting with the Supremes and moving on to Sade.

Jr.  loved to look and dress sharp, very particular, and specific about his likes and dislikes.  His clothing, hair and grooming were meticulous. Nothing ever out of place.

His sense of humor was flawless as well. He was good for a great belly laugh describing people and things with the most hilarious descriptions and explanations of why.

He served on the USS Cappadano traveling to many ports in the world. Clifford Limpy Jr. is an honorably discharged U.S. Navy Veteran, serving from 1982-1986

He is survived by brothers Merlin and wife Cheryl, Jonathan and his partner Theresa, Whitebird and Mary Limpy, Jeremy and Lindsey Limpy, Eric and Ivey Timber, Pascal, Eugene, Tony and Ben Shoulderblade.  Sisters Cheyenne Tallbull, husband Neil and Mena Limpy, Rosie Mae Brady, Janelle Timber-Jones, Stella Ortega and Geri Small.

Aunties Marcelline, Shirley, Annette, Esther, Irene, Serena, Mary and Tiny Shoulderblade, Mary Jane Limpy, and Jennifer Bixby Gomez, Dolores Shoulderblade. Uncles Eugene and Raymond Limpy, Donald Pork Chops Shoulderblade and Bill Bixby.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews who he loved, and who loved him very much and his childhood friends Jimmy Dahle and Bertie Brown.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Kathryn Shoulderblade and his Father Clifford Limpy, Sr. His  brothers Tim Whistling Elk, Gabriel Russell and sister Rikki Big Medicine. Paternal grandparents Henry and Agnes Limpy, maternal Grandparents Thomas and Annie Shoulderblade, Fern Shoulderblade. Aunties Lillian, Letha, Sara, Wahlena Limpy and Magoo Magdalene Shoulderblade. Uncles Homer, Jimmy Limpy, Elvis Oldbull, Sr. and Vincent Buffalo Shoulderblade and Duane Bixby.

Jr. is now celebrating with family and friends.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to WJ ”Buck” Richardson at Veterans Affairs, St. Labre Cafeteria, St. Labre Youth and Family Services, Northern Cheyenne Enrollment, and the Morning Star Chapter.

Per CDC guidelines, please wear a mask, maintain social distances, and use hand sanitizer when needed.  The family thanks you for your understanding and consideration.

I served with Limpy on the U.S.S. Butte, I am sad to see this.

He was fun, a good man, and a self-described Maverick…

Fair winds and following seas, shipmate

This comes as VERY sad news to me! I served with Clifford in our Navy Training School in 1983. He was a very good friend that I have tried to track down over the years to no avail. I couple of days ago I was talking to my wife’s preacher who is a Navy Veteran also. Found out we had the same job, and he told me he was on the USS Capodanno. I knew that was where Clifford had gone when we left school — I was on the same class of ship but in Hawaii. Then we started talking about what a great guy Clifford was and laughing at stories. I then went home and finally found his obituary.

Always sitting on my desk is a beaded belt buckle his mother sent to me back in those days. Not long after we left school he was in a shipyard in Mobile, Alabama and he called my home in New Orleans. He spoke to my Mom and Day for an hour or so and they told me all about it. It is such a small world but too big for a couple of good friends to keep in touch.

I am so sorry for your family’s loss. I would like to email with a brother or sister if they are open for it:
