Cole Mykel Zook, age 28, of Miles City, Montana, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
Cole was a true jack of all trades, with a passion for truck driving that surpassed all others. From a young age, Cole embraced the cowboy spirit, donning cowboy hats and boots and immersing himself in the Montana lifestyle he cherished deeply.
Cole’s love for animals and family was evident in all he did. He had a unique sense of humor- sarcastic and crass- but his wit brought joy and laughter to those close to him. A keen mind and thirst for knowledge defined Cole, who had a particular interest in history and firearms. He admired and deeply loved his grandparents, seeing his grandpas as role models and sources of inspiration.
A proud veteran, Cole was also known for his debating skills and enjoyment of a good argument, particularly when he won. His culinary experiments favored garlic, bacon, curry, and fat. As a tinker and a friend to many, especially in Miles City. Cole was often found sharing a beer or dancing with those around him. His willingness to help – whether rescuing someone from a river or providing a comforting shoulder – highlighted his compassionate nature, which was as soft as his exterior was tough.
Cole is survived by his mother, Mykael; his brother, Caleb; his sisters, Amalie, Areisha, and Autumn; his nephews, Jayden; his faithful truck dog, Nova; and an extensive extended family.
Though Cole’s presence will be deeply missed, his spirit and the memories he created will remain with all who knew and loved him. May he finally be at peace and finally share a beer with his dad.

Cole was a good friend, and I wish I was closer to him the past year or two. Time has flown by and the years passed before I knew it. He would call me about car part deals and offered me to drive a rig for him. We spend years every night chatting and gaming, having laughs and making him play games he was afraid of.
He was an abrasive personality, like sandpaper, but he would do anything for his friends.
He was my Brother, not in blood, but in spirit.
I wish we had gotten to meet.

Can’t believe that you are gone.
You gave us some great laughs, even if it was on your expense (and your vocal cords). Just as we made you laugh. As much as playing with you was a joy.
Certainly a cool kids table member for me.
I’ll drink a shot of the good stuff in your honour.
Godspeed buddy…

Conan says
When I was a younger man, more impressionable and unsure of myself, with few friends, and fewer who cared to know me, you were one of the few who cared to speak to me. You had no pretensions, and I always thought you were older than you were, for all the life that you had lived. I know we had our differences, and I regret that we did not speak more often, but I am glad we last parted on good terms.

To all of Cole’s family,
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.
I remember Cole as a kind, spunky boy that I enjoyed having in my first grade class. I am so very sorry for your loss.

I’m so sorry for the loss of this special young man. My prayers go out to the family and community. He was our neighbor and friend. As well as his amazing grandfather and companion, Nova. He loved our pets which were many. He was gentle and kind and our pets knew that.
We will miss you, Cole. You are in God’s care and presence..

From 100mph in your old crappy Honda down some back roads haha to patching a hole in your gas tank with an empty beer can. Chilling in the house yelling back and forth with Caleb about random crap drinking until 3am. Gonna miss you man.
