In Memory Of

Colven Longknife, age 29, of Ashland

December 15, 1995 – June 10, 2025

Colven Roy LongKnife – O’kohomoxhaaketa (Little Wolf)

On the evening of June 10th, 2025, at 5:52 p.m. Colven started his journey in the comfort of his family’s home. While surrounded by family and friends he joined his loved ones at the age of 29.

On his mothers birthday, Colven was born in Crow Montana on December 15th, 1995. He was the first child and son of Clara WhiteCrane and Caide LongKnife.

Colven is Assiniboine Sioux/Gros Ventre and Northern Cheyenne. He was a very proud LongKnife. Although he’s an enrolled member of Fort Belknap; his mother, grandparents, aunties, and uncles helped raise him in Ashland on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. He grew up Cheyenne and he was very proud of it.

He is the 8th generation and direct descendant of Chief Little Wolf. From his mother Clara Ann, his grandma Marcella CrazyMule, his great grandmother  Mary Woodenthigh, His great-great grandfather Arthur Woodenthigh, finally his great-great-great  grandfather Hugh Woodenthigh, son of Chief Little Wolf.

He attended Ashland Public School, graduated from Lame Deer High School then attended Chief Dull Knife. He was always always proud of his achievements and the friends he made along the way.

He was a simple man but still had his range of interests, passions and occupations. His interests were beading (which he had a talent for), gaming, movies, anime, working with horses, basketball, football, music, fishing, bowling, chess, and playing guitar. His passions were helping others, story telling, acknowledging his love, making people laugh, and learning traditional beliefs/language. His most proud occupations were refinery and fire fighting.

From a young age he had a humorous, thoughtful, helpful, out- going, and empathetic soul. This created strong bonds with everyone he crossed paths with. The thought of Colven was always his native humor. His jokes were one of a kind because no matter who it was, he always had a way to make people laugh; even if he was just a phone call away.

His love was so deep that everyone became family to him. He will always be cherished and loved by many. He can never be forgotten.
