Conrad Joseph Losinski, age 93, of Miles City passed away on Friday, March 21, 2008 at the VA Nursing Home in Miles City.
Conrad was born in St. Phillips, Montana on November 17, 1914, the son of John F. and Maryann (Zabrocki) Losinski. He attended school at St. Phillips for a year then the family homesteaded east of Rock Springs where he went to country school through the 8th grade. He went to work for the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) for three years and then worked for Gamble Robinson in Miles City. Conrad enlisted in the United States Army on February 26, 1941, serving during World War II, in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater in the Philippines and New Guinea. He received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and a number of other honorary medals. He was honorably discharged on August 18, 1945. Following his discharge, he married Elenora Fiechtner on October 27, 1946 in Miles and moved to the White Ranch on Crow Rock. They leased a ranch at Sonnette, Montana for three years. He then bought a ranch at Olive, Montana in 1951 and resided there until 1999 when they moved to Miles City, Montana when Elenoras health was failing. Elenora passed away in 1999 and Conrad remained in Miles City and in 2005 moved in to the VA nursing Home where he lived until the time of his death.
Conrad loved his life on the ranch, spending long summer days haying and tending to his sheep and hogs. He also enjoyed raising his large garden, fishing, hunting, trapping and building dikes and dams. Conrad was a member of St. Davids Catholic Church in Broadus and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City and the Montana Woolgrowers Association.
Conrad is survived by three sons: Greg Losinski and his wife Linda of Miles City, MT; John Losinski and his wife Lauri of Twisp, WA; and Ron Losinski and his wife Tamra of Modesto, CA; a daughter, Joanne Richardson of Miles City, MT; two brothers: Lawrence Losinski and his wife Dorothy of Miles City, MT; Joseph Losinski of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters: Frances P. Zeibarth of Miles City, MT; and Stella Derley of Fernley, NV; eight grandchildren: Le Ann Harrison, Lori Lewis, Jamie Barlog, Jason Losinski, Jeff Losinski, Justin Losinski, Brianna Boyle and Jenny Darwood; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hubert Losinski and a sister, Wanda Stephens.
A Vigil Service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Rite of Committal will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.
