Connie was born on October 19, 1930 in Snoqualmie Falls, Washington to Leif and Eva (Hultin) Amundson. She died at her home, in Broadus, May 6, 2017 at the age of 86.  Connie was raised on a wheat farm near Joplin, MT, attended high school there and continued her education at the University of Montana, in Missoula.  She worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Billings and while living there, met Stacey area rancher, Don Cain.  They were married on January 2, 1954.  Making their lifelong home at the Stacey ranch.

Connie loved to garden and always had beautiful flower beds surrounding her home. She did all kinds of handiwork, making many crocheted and knitted items for the family.  Connie was a long time member of Women Involved in Farm Economics (WIFE), serving as the Montana State Treasurer for 24 years.  She always enjoyed book work and was employed by Rowland and Thomas, accountants in Miles City for 9 years while seeing her children through school.

Connie will always be remembered as a smiling, witty and intuitive lady. An authentic Montana spirit, full of independence, with a loving and compassionate soul.  She was very proud of her family and her Norwegian heritage.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Shelley) Cain, of Huntley, Marlene (Ken) Rohrer of Volborg, grandsons, Zac (Jessica) Rohrer of Billings, and Parker (fiancée Melissa Hansen) Rohrer of Billings; great grandchildren, Emma and Isaac Rohrer of Billings, MT; her mother, Eva Amundson of Missoula, her sister Priscilla Pimley of Chester and sister in law, Helen Cossitt of Billings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Cain, Father, Leif Amundson, Sisters, Eleanor Sassen and Ardis Amundson.

I have a lot of good memories of visits with Connie over the years; I know Karl thought a lot of her and considered her a friend along with his professional work with her. We went back quite a few years, Karl and I sublet her “in-town” apartment the first summer we were married! May you find comfort in many good memories and God Bless your family.

My thoughts and prayers are for all of you. I sure enjoyed the visits from your mom and dad when I lived in the Stacey area and when I lived on Wilbur Creek. Your mom would call and visit with me and I so enjoyed it. All those years in 4-H created a wonderful friendship and I treasure the memories from both Connie and Don. May the memories you cherish help you through all the days ahead of you. Friends Wayne Jr and Serena Wetherelt.
