Funeral services for Curtis Spence, age 21, of Pine Haven, Wyoming will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2005 at the Upton Elementary Auditorium with Reverend Joe Spencer of the United Methodist Church of Upton officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Upton, Wyoming. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2005 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Gillette.
Curtis Lee Spence was taken home to be with God on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Curtis was born on May 29, 1984 the son of Lance Spence and Cally (Benson) Spence in Newcastle, Wyoming. Curtis was raised and educated in Upton, Wyoming. Growing up Curtis enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing sports, especially football. In August of 2003 he married Nicole Olheiser. They had one son, Landon Benjamin Spence who was born on December 4, 2003. Nicole and Curtis later divorced. Curtis and Landon enjoyed spending time together in Pine Haven, Wyoming where Curtis was currently living. They enjoyed watching fights on television, playing outside, and hanging out at Dammas house. Curtis also enjoyed hanging out with his friends, cruising in the Blazy, playing X-Box and watching the Denver Broncos and Nebraska Cornhuskers. Curtis was currently employed by his uncles at Benson Construction in Gillette, Wyoming where he was foreman of his own crew.
Curtis will be missed by his son, Landon Spence of Moorcroft, Wyoming, his mother, Cally Spence of Pine Haven, Wyoming, his father, Lance (Virginia) Spence of Clarksville, Arkansas, 2 sisters; Alicia Spence of Upton, Wyoming and Paige Spence of Clarksville, Arkansas, 1 brother, Tanner Spence of Clarksville, Arkansas. He will also be missed by maternal grandmother, Lita Benson of Upton, Wyoming, paternal grandparents, Luann Spence and Rocky (Judith) Spence of Grove, Oklahoma, 1 niece Ayvree Spence of Upton, Wyoming, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Curtis was preceded in death by his paternal great grandfather and great grandmother, Frank and Shandon Kleinshmidt, maternal great grandmother Marie Barnett, maternal grandfather Benjamin Benson and 1 cousin, Blake Brunton.
Curtis will be missed by all and the memories he left us will be cherished.
A memorial has been established for his son Landon.
