Funeral services for Curtis Means, age 47, of Gillette, Wyoming will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Dan Morgan of the High Plains Community Church officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, September 24, 2004 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, September 27, 2004, at the Lakeview Cemetery in Cheyenne, Wyoming with Pastor Dick Young of the Cheyenne Hill Church officiating.
Curtis Means went to be with the Lord September 21, 2004, at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming.
Curtis Eugene Means was born October 8, 1956, the son of Sydney Jack and Barbara (St. Clair) Means in Eureka, California. He was raised and educated in Quincy, California, graduating from Quincy High School in 1974. In 1978, Curtis graduated from the Mackay School of Mines at the University of Nevada in Reno, Nevada. Upon graduating, Curtis took his first mining engineering position at Trapper Mine in Craig, Colorado in 1988. He obtained an MBA in Finance from the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado. In 1989, he moved to Wyoming, where he worked for fifteen years in various positions and mines, establishing his reputation as a dragline expert. Recently he consulted for several mines in Australia. Cutis worked for twenty-six years as a mining engineer and made many innovations to the mining industry.
Curtis was devoted to Christ, his daughter, Katelyn, and his family. He was always remembered as a living witness. He was a member of the High Plains Community Church and the Christian Motorcycle Association. He was also active member in Community service.
Curtis is survived by his parents, Sydney Jack and Barbara Means of Springfield, Oregon; his daughter, Katelyn Means of Cheyenne, Wyoming; one sister, Marlee (John) Daniels of Wapola, Wisconsin; two brothers: Doug (Marita) Means of Cannon City, Colorado; Michael (Claudia) Means of Winnemucca, Nevada; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and many friends.He was preceded in death by his grandparents; one brother, Monte Means; one uncle and one cousin.
