Cynthia Murnion, age 75, of Jordan

June 16, 1937 – November 12, 2012

     Cynthia Ellen Murnion, age 75, of Jordan passed away on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Billings Clinic.

     Cynthia was born on June 16, 1937 in Jordan, Montana, the daughter of Woodrow and Ellen (Loomis) Saylor.  She attended schools at Squaw Creek and Ady’s school.  She graduated from Garfield County High School in 1954.  Following her schooling, she worked for Foster Drug until her marriage to Philip Murnion on November 19, 1955.  Following their marriage, they moved to the family ranch north of Jordan where they lived for 57 years and raised their nine children.  Many years she owned and operated Ewy’s Clothing Store with her family.

     Cynthia loved fishing, gardening, cooking and riding horses in her younger years.  She was a 4-H Leader for 28 years.  She enjoyed attending high school rodeos with her children and loved to visit with anyone she met. Cynthia was active in the Altar Society of St. Johns the Baptist Catholic Church and had a deep faith in God and his blessed mother. She was a member or the VFW Auxiliary, Civic Club and Red Hat Ladies Club.  She enjoyed watching her beloved grandchildren in their sports and babysitting them.  She most of all enjoyed spending time with her best friend and partner for 57 years, Philip.

    Cynthia is survived by her husband Philip Murnion; her children:  Cavin, Colin (Carrie) and their children Charli, Connor and Kelly; Teresa (special friend Glen Beecher); Maury (Carla) and their children Douglas and Tori; Perry (Betty) and their children Brieanne, Kailyn (Brandon) Smotherman, Shelby, Seth and Koree; Jay (Leslie) and their children Raegen, Kendall and Ridge; Tyler (Beth) and their children Seanna, Edward, Dawson, Ellie, Brooke, AJ and Layton; and Joye Murnion; and a sister Marion (Lance) Peeler of Boulder, MT. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who were all very special to her.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Edward in 2001 and her brother Claude Saylor in 2001.

     Visitation will begin on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan.  A Vigil and Rosary service will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan.  Mass of Christian will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Garfield High School Gymnasium in Jordan.  Rite of Committal will follow in the Pioneer Cemetery.  Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Jordan is in charge of the arrangements.

     Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Jordan Swimming Pool Fund.

    What a lady! I never in my life forget sitting down to one of her dinner tables in the 70’s…. I have never seen as many people or as much food at one table ever… Simply amazing that she did that as a commonplace thing! She did a wonderful job raising a very large family – she will be missed by many………

    I am heartbroken to hear that Cynthia has passed away, she was such a wonderful lady. Cynthia was my Catechism for four years when I lived in Jordan, I will forever be grateful for her influence and presence in my young life. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

    Cannot imagine the pain that you all are feeling. I remember always the years that Cynthia helped me shop for my birthday present at Ewys Store, the many boots, coats, and hats she helped pick out and try on. Hold on to the precious memories and it is with my deepest regret I cannot be there on Friday morning to share as you celebrate your mother/grandmother/wife’s life.

    Phillip and family,
    I have so many great memories of all the times out at your house and dropping in to the store in town just to say hi to Cynthia. She was such a sweet lady and always had a welcoming smile on her face. I vividly remember the slamming noise of the screen door on your back porch and how happy I was to get inside after getting so cold out at the arena. Cynthia always had some treat for us kids too.     My prayers are with you during this very sad time. Cynthia was a very special person to many and will be missed by all. I have many fond memories of spending time at the ranch as a kid, she always made me feel like a special guest and in later years whenever I returned to Jordan for a short visit, Cynthia would always come up to say Hi, and always took interest in what was happening in my life.
