On January 22, 2021, Dale E. Heide, age 88, of Circle, MT, passed away peacefully in his home of 66 years with his loving wife by his side.
Dale was born on April 19, 1932, in Mrs. Taylor’s Rooming House in Glendive, MT to Heinrich and Ruth (Lokken) Heide. Dale traveled to and from school on horseback or by one-horse buggy, first to Washington School, and later to Lower Summit School. He attended high school in Circle, graduating in 1950. In 1949, at Brockway Dairy Days, Dale’s sister Darlene introduced him to her friend, Jeannette Ueland, they have been sweethearts ever since. Dale and Jeannette have missed very few Dairy Days, and their family lovingly teased that it was a national holiday for them. Dale was drafted into the United States Army in February of 1953. He served his basic training at Camp Roberts, California and was deployed to Korea later that year. He was honorably discharged from the Army in November of 1954. Shortly after, on December 15, 1954, he married the love of his life, Jeannette. They made their home in Dawson County, starting out with one milk cow, Hereford cattle, and chickens. Dale, Jeannette, and their three daughters worked alongside one another gardening, farming, and raising cattle and sheep. Dale loved this way of life and was a true steward of the land. He loved ranching and took pride in raising quality livestock. He was proud to have raised several steers that were grand champions in area fairs. Dale was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4813, an Ambitious Ants 4-H leader and a member of First Lutheran Church, Farm Bureau, Farmers Union, Montana Stockgrowers and Montana Woolgrowers.
Dale was grateful for his close-knit group of neighbors. Over the years, he enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and bowling, and he always looked forward to branding and shipping time in his community. His family was his pride and joy. Whether it was sporting events, class plays, concerts, or fairs, he rarely missed his grandchildren’s activities and always had a few simple words of encouragement to share. Dale was the epitome of a family man, and his friends and family knew him as a kind, gentle man with a ready smile. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents Heinrich “Heinie” Heide and Ruth (Lokken) Heide, sisters: Darlene (Leo) Jensen (Wayne) Pawlowski, and Helen (Bob) Savidge; a niece Lora Jensen, nephews Clint Ueland and Ron Ueland and a Godson Arne Ueland.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jeannette, his daughters: Lynda (Dennis) Dinardi, Cheryl (Wade) VanEvery and Della (Buck) Van Horn; his Grandchildren: Aaron (Patty) Dinardi, Brent Dinardi, Heidi (Daniel) Sikveland, Jake (Susan) VanEvery, John (Shannon) VanEvery, Amanda (Andy) Evanson, Samantha Van Horn & Tina Van Horn; his great grandchildren: Wyatt Bosch, Abby & Aeden Dinardi, Jacoby Dinardi, Morgan Dinardi, Taylor and Ryleigh Sikveland, Cooper and Wilson VanEvery, Kenzley & Mallory VanEvery. Jeanette and Heide family – I am so sorry to hear about Dale. He will be missed immensely. I grew up with your family and Dale – his smile, and friendly way always made a big impression on me. I can only reflect fondly on memories where a smile comes to my face, the brandings, moving cattle, 4-H, neighborhood gatherings and the visits I had with him nearly every summer when I was home. He leaves behind a great legacy of a wonderful family, grandchildren, and a good man where a handshake and his word meant everything.

My first memory of Dale was I was about 8 years old our class went to a class play. Dale was in a high school play and got to shoot a gun. As an 8 year old figured anybody that got to shoot a gun was a cool guy. 70 years later after being a shirt tail relative, working with him putting up hay or working cattle, shooting my first deer at his place and having him there at most family events, good and bad, I never changed my mind, he was a cool guy. God bless him, his family and friends.

To the entire Dale Heide family,
My heartfelt condolences go out to each and every one of you. Dale was probably one of the most stand up guys in the country and I always looked up to him. Whether he was working with kids in 4-H, square dancing back in the day, brandings, supporting the Circle Widlcats, or being a member of Circle’s VFW Honor Guard, he was ALWAYS a friend with a kind word even if he didn’t know you. I’ve had the privilege to have known this man almost my entire life and he will truly be missed. A truer Patriot than most and it will be an honor to be a part of his Honor Guard. May God rest his soul and watch over his entire family during this difficult time.
